Love Was Definitely In The Air
Everyone who helps Clover Cliff Ranch Bed and Breakfast serve guests - and even a few additional
hands, joined together to host two weddings on a weekend late in June. The details for each were
quite different but there was no difference in the special love that each bride and groom shared,
mostly for each other but also for the beauty of this setting in the heart of the Kansas Flint Hills.
The large tent that accommodated 300 guests on Saturday was strategically placed to capture the
best view of beautiful rolling hills and green grass sprinkled with wildflowers. The wedding party
arrived in the Clover Cliff wagon pulled by Rosie and Roxie with Spencer Harshman at the helm
along with his right hand man, Warren Harshman. Did we say that it was a wedding party of 12 -
plus the two drivers? We're mentioning that number only to help you imagine the weight that Rosie and
Roxie were energetically pulling up the hill and out onto the grass, stopping only when they reached
the tent. The sound of their hooves on the concrete was rhythmic and almost melodic!
After the ceremony and dinner the bride and groom hopped into the wagon for a ride around the
tent with Rosie and Roxie running at a full gallop, delighting most guests. A few were a little anxious
and needed some reassurance to know that they weren't witnessing an actual runaway before they
could relax and enjoy the moment!
The second wedding on Sunday was much more intimate with a significantly smaller group gathering
to celebrate new beginnings. Rosie and Roxie showed up again with the wagon to add a special touch
to the whole event.
You may want to hear the rest of the Rosie and Roxie story. Our favorite welder did finish building sturdy
metal protection around the lights that line the driveway. So the way is clear for these two black beauties to
return to their preferred spot, welcoming guests to a Chase County adventure.
